Vatican cardinal pays homage to David Bowie

January 11, 2016

The president of the Pontifical Council for Culture reacted to the death of David Bowie by quoting the lyrics of a famous Bowie song on Twitter.

Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi quoted a few lines from “Space Oddity,” closing with a line: “and may God’s love be with you.” Bowie died of cancer on January 10 at the age of 69. Cardinal Ravasi is known for sprinkling his speeches and written statements with quotes from a broad variety of sources, ranging from ancient poets and philosophers to popular novelists and pop singers.
