Bishops from North, South America gather in Tampa
February 24, 2016
A group of bishops from the United States, Canada, and Latin America has gathered in Tampa for the 40th official meeting of the Bishops of the Catholic Church in America since 1967.
“Jesus Christ, the face of the Father’s Mercy” is the theme of the four-day meeting, which concludes on February 25.
During the meeting, the bishops will discuss Laudato Si’, the recent papal encyclical on ecology, and the Aparecida Document, the final report of the 2007 general assembly of the Latin American bishops, which was written under the direction of the future Pope Francis.
