Church unity more important than ever, says Italian cardinal

The unity of the Church has assumed a greater importance than ever before, an Italian prelate wrote in a front-page column in the Vatican newspaper.
In a “culturally divided and lacerated world, characterized by horrible social inequality,” and amid a terrorist war that “threatens all of humanity,” the unity of the Church can be built on the rock of Christ through daily solidarity and peacemaking, through the joyful proclamation of the Gospel, and through ecumenical dialogue, said Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti of Perugia - Città della Pieve.
