Gallup diocese has spent $3.5 million in legal fees for bankruptcy

The Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico, has spent $3.5 milion in legal fees and associated costs during its bankruptcy proceedings.
The diocese, which filed for federal bankruptcy protection in November 2013, is still working to reach a settlement with creditors, led by sex-abuse victims. The law firm representing the diocese had filed bills for nearly $2 million by the close of 2015, while a firm representing victims had sough payment for more than $1 million.
