Galllup diocese asks bankruptcy court for new mediator; victims want lawsuits to proceed
July 14, 2015
The Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico, has asked a federal bankruptcy court to appoint a new mediator, after a breakdown in negotiations with creditors.
The diocese, which filed for bankruptcy protection in November 2013, has been unable to come to terms with victims of clerical abuse. Lawyers for the victims have now asked the court to lift bankruptcy protection, and allow lawsuits against the diocese to move forward.
