Catholic church destroyed by Islamic extremists in Yemen

An abandoned Catholic church in Aden, Yemen, was destroyed by bombing on December 9.

Immaculate Conception church, in the Mualla district of the capital city, had been built in the 1960s. It had already been damaged by air strikes in May, as the government of Yemen battled with rebels.
The church was bombed on the day after Aden’s mayor was assassinated by extremists backed by the Islamic State.
