Report: Pope to meet with deposed French bishop
September 01, 2015
Pope Francis will meet on the afternoon of September 1 with Bishop Jacques Gaillot, the former bishop of Evreux, France, according to La Croix.
The bishop, whom St. John Paul II removed from office in 1995, praised Pope Francis in a letter written last November, according to the report. The Pontiff responded by calling Bishop Gaillot, now 79, and then sent a handwritten letter inviting him to a meeting.
