Leading critic of hierarchy invited to brief Vatican panel on sexual abuse

July 24, 2015

A Dominican priest who has been among the harshest critics of the Church hierarchy has consulted with members of the Vatican’s new panel on sexual abuse, the National Catholic Reporter reports.

Father Thomas Doyle, whose regular denunciations of Church leaders has frequently put him at odds with the American bishops and jeopardized his clerical standing, told the Reporter that he was pleasantly surprised to be asked to speak with the commission. He was invited by Marie Collins, an Irish member, he revealed. He met with four members of the group in London in June, and spoke with them at length—“eight to ten hours over three days,” according to the Reporter-- about the history of the sex-abuse scandal in the US and his own role as an advocate for victims.

This is a wholesome and prudent move in my opinion. Whenever I acquire a product I am interested mostly in any negative reviews rather than the marketing hype from the vendor. And I hope they will finally "discover" the predominantly homosexual (man on boy) nature of the abuses.
