Estonian Orthodox gravitating toward Ukrainian Catholic Church?

April 23, 2015

In Estonia, parishioners are leaving Orthodox churches affiliated with the Patriarchate of Mosow to join the Ukrainian Catholic Church, according to a representative of the World Congress of Ukrainians.

Vira Konyk reported that at Easter celebrations in Ukrainian Catholic parishes in Estonia, there were many new faces in the congregations. “Due to the fact that the Moscow Patriarchate supports Russian aggression against Ukraine, people stopped going there and found their way to a Ukrainian church,” she said. The Ukrainian Catholic Church is the largest independent Byzantine Church in communion with the Holy See.
