Wine experts gather for papal audience

Italian vintners and wine experts met with Pope Francis after his regular weekly public audience on January 21, and presented the Pontiff with a tastevin, the silver cup used by professional wine-tasters.

Fanco Ricci, the president of the Italian Sommelier Foundation, said that he began making plans for a group to attend the papal audience after he heard the Pope making a comparison to “a good wine.”
