Battle with Islamic State taxes the resources of Iraqi Kurds

Father Bernardo Cervellera, the director of the AsiaNews service, reports on the plight of the Iraqi Kurds.

Caught between hostile neighbors in Iraq and Turkey, the Kurds have fought for generations to protect their autonomy. Now the battle with the Islamic State is taxing the strength of this isolated group, in a region where religious minorities—Christians, Yezidis, and Zoroastrians—have traditionally lived in peace.
