Ancient Iraqi monastery now serving as ISIS prison

December 18, 2014

The Islamic State has transformed the historic monastery of St. George into a prison, the Fides news service reports.

About 150 prisoners of the Islamic State have been moved into the monastery. The cross on the tome of the building has been torn down.

Having driven Christians out of the city of Mosul, the Islamic government is now turning abandoned church buildings to other uses.
