Pope calls family of James Foley to offer prayers, sympathy

Pope Francis made a personal phone call to the family of James Foley, the American journalist who was murdered in Iraq, the Catholic News Service reports.

Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, told reporters that the Pope had called the New Hampshire home of the Foley family on Thursday afternoon, August 21, to offer his condolences and promise his prayers.
