Missionary priest kidnapped in Cameroon

November 14, 2013

A French missionary priest was kidnapped in Cameroon on November 13, the Fides news service reports.

Father Georges Vandenbeusch, a Fidei Donum priest who has worked in the region for 3 years, was seized by men who are believed to be from Nigeria, and likely members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The local Maroua-Mokolo diocese said that Father Vandenbeusch had been working with refugees from Nigeria. The diocese had no further information about his abduction.
