Federal probe of Planned Parenthood’s use of taxpayer funds
August 09, 2013
The Government Accountability Office has confirmed media reports that it is investigating Planned Parenthood’s use of taxpayer funds, according to Fox News.
The federal probe follows a Texas investigation that found that “Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast improperly billed the Texas Medicaid program for products and services that were never actually rendered, not medically necessary, and were not covered by the Medicaid program,” according to the Texas attorney general’s office.
Following that investigation, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast agreed to a $4.3 million settlement with the federal government, the State of Texas, and a whistleblower.
CNA/EWTN News noted that more than 50 members of Congress requested a federal probe.
