New Vatican disciplinary action against American Jesuit reported

The Vatican has taken new disciplinary action against an American Jesuit theologian who was first sanctioned in 2005 for his , according to a report on the Commonweal magazine web site. Father Roger Haight, who had been barred from theology at Catholic schools, has now reportedly been forbidden to teach at any school. The original disciplinary action, taken by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, came after a lengthy investigation centered on Haight's book Jesus Symbol of God; the Vatican concluded that Haight's work conflicts with key Catholic teachings, including the doctrines on the Trinity, the Incarnation, the divinity of Christ, the salvific power of Christ's Sacrifice, the Resurrection, and the unique role of the Church in the economy of salvation.
