December 23, 2008
Metropolitan Kirill, temporary head of the Russian Orthodox Church, has praised Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg for refusing to sign legislation that would permit euthanasia. “Your decision is an example of courage and loyalty to beliefs which inspire the majority of European residents,” Metropolitan Kirill said in a statement issued Monday. “I believe that the protection of traditional values of peoples on the European continent will help maintain the basement of our common house.”
