Pro-life former Jesuit seminarian wins Louisiana congressional race
December 09, 2008
Anh “Joseph” Quang Cao, a Jesuit seminarian from 1990 to 1996 and now a husband and father of two children, has become the nation’s first Vietnamese-American congressman. The 41-year-old pro-life Republican immigration lawyer defeated Rep. William J. Jefferson in an election on Saturday. Rep. Jefferson was indicted last year for accepting $500,000 in bribes, $90,000 of which was reportedly found by federal agents in his freezer.
