Homosexual activists praise British bishops for warning against 'homophobia'
December 02, 2008
British Catholic priests have been urged to avoid 'homophobic jokes and asides," and to "express appreciation for the gifts that homosexual Catholics bring to their faith community," in a pamphlet distributed under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales. The pamphlet, produced by the bishops' Marriage and Family Life Project, was welcomed by Peter Tatchell, an outspoken gay-rights campaigner, who said that the material "is a big improvement on the past homophobia of some Catholic pronouncements on homosexuality."
