Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston has issued a statement of support for Antonio Enrique, the father of 11 who edits his archdiocesan newspaper. Some priests have joined gay activists in calling for the removal of Enrique after he published a column linking the origins of homosexuality to Satan.
“He has done an extraordinary job of running the newspaper,’’ the cardinal said in a statement. “I am grateful for his leadership, advice, and friendship.”
