Life Prize awards for American pro-life activists

The Gerard Health Foundation has identified the winners of its first Life Prizes: awards recognizing "unsurpassed strides in preserving and upholding the sanctity of human life." The Massachusetts- based group will award 6 prizes at ceremonies to be held in Washington in January.
The honorees are:
- The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists
- Richard Doerflinger, the veteran associate director of the US bishops' pro-life committee
- Peggy Hartshorn, the president of Heartbeat International, a network of pregnancy resource centers
- Jill Stanek, a nurse and popular blogger who exposed infanticide in Illinois and helped rally support for legislation protecting babies who survive abortion
- Lila Rose, a pro-life activist on the UCLA campus, who called attention to Planned Parenthood's willingness to cover up evidence of statutory rape
- Kay Cole James, founder of the Gloucester Institute, which promoted pro-life education among African-Americans
