Vatican, Bavaria ratify new concordat June 11, 2007

The Holy See has completed formal ratification of a new concordat with Bavaria, governing the teaching of Catholic theology in the German state.

Archbishop Erwin Josef Ender, the apostolic nuncio in Germand, and Edmund Stoiber, the minister-president of Bavaria, signed the instruments of ratification at a ceremony on June 8. The new protocol, which applies to Catholic institutions in Bavaria, took effect the following day.
