PATRIPASSIANISM

A form of Monarchianism, which postulated that there is only one person in the Trinity, so that logically God the Father became man, a much as the Son, and suffered on the Cross for mankind. Sometimes it is called Sabellianism. (Etym. Latin pater, father + passus, having suffered.)
