GLORIA IN EXCELSIS

The major doxology at Mass, after the Penitential Act and Appeal for Mercy. It is sung or said by the whole congregation or else by them alternately with the choir, or by the choir itself. The Gloria is used on Sundays outside of Advent and Lent, on solemnities and feast days, and at special solemn celebrations.
