DISPUTA, LA

A fresco in the Vatican painted by Raphael (1483-1520), considered to be one of the artist's greatest works. Representing the Church, militant and triumphant, it portrays saints, doctors, and laymen engaged in discussion. During the discussion the heavens are opened, showing Christ with the Holy Spirit hovering above him and the eternal Father blessing him as he offers himself as a sacrifice for sin.
