CONCOMITANT GRACE

Sometimes called co-operating grace, it is assistance given in responding to a preventing grace. It has been compared to a mother who, after coaxing a child to walk, actually takes it by the arms and assists it to take a few more steps. In preventing, or prevenient, grace God acts without man's co-operation; in concomitant grace God acts together with the free co-operation of man's will.
