BODMER CODEX

A manuscript in Greek of St. John's Gospel, written in Egypt before A.D. 200, consisting of 154 pages. It is almost perfectly preserved for the first fourteen chapters of John, with the other chapters in fragmentary state. Together with the Beatty papyri, the Bodmer Codex confirms the existing text of the New Testament beyond anything comparable in any other subject or field of similar antiquity. It is the oldest, extensive manuscript of a portion of the New Testament. Published in 1956, it is named after its original owner, M. Bodmer, of Geneva, Switzerland.
