AXIOLOGY

A theory that studies the nature, norms, and meaning of value as that which is desired for being good. Axiology has in modern times sought to replace the traditional ethics and aesthetics, and has sought to lay new foundations for both. The object of ethics is said to be the subjective realization of value, whereas aesthetics is the representation of values. (Etym. Greek axios, worth, worthy + logia, science, knowledge.)
