very, very convinced

By ( articles ) | Nov 13, 2005

Three years ago, a Chicago detective gave a brief character sketch of the late Mary Stachowicz:

"She would definitely let you know what her religious beliefs were and would certainly want you to listen and to follow," he said. "As the detectives said from the [statement] that was made, she was talking to Nick about homosexuality. She was very, very convinced of her religious beliefs."

Nick (Nicholas) Gutierrez, 19, Mary's co-worker, confessed to police that he became outraged when Mary dared to plead with him to exit his homosexual life. Mary died by his hand for her evangelization three years ago today.

The news of her death and the circumstances surrounding it were reported for a few days in the Chicago media. However, following Gutierrez's confession, both Catholic and secular media have been mute on the disposition of the criminal proceedings.

Requiescat in pace.

Oh... by the way... did you hear that Chicago's Francis Cardinal George is going to offer an anniversary Mass in commemoration of Mary's martyrdom?

Neither did we.
