The responsible alternative to gay "marriage"
By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Dec 15, 2003
After several years of non-stop cheerleading for same-sex marriage, the Boston Globe has allowed its "independent" ombudsman to spend a few moments wondering whether the coverage has been fair.
It's a fairly hilarious exercise.
The bottom line: After some ritualistic head-scratching and throat-clearing, the ombudsman solemnly reminds Globe reporters that there are some people who are not mindless hate-filled bigots, and oppose same-sex marriage. They are the people who prefer legal recognition of "civil unions."
Thus once again the Globe shows its willingness to cover the entire range of public opinion, from A to B.
