Preventive care? Preventing what?
This isn't an original question, I realize. But in light of the Obama administration's insistence that women need "preventive care" such as contraception, it seems worth asking again:
What disease is it that the Pill prevents?

Phil, I don't think talk like that will get you appointed to any pontifical commissions or academies anytime soon. What will keep you out? Clear understanding of Catholic faith and morals. Striving to live your life and to conduct your business according to this faith and to God's morality. Willing to act on your convictions: to speak out in the face of real rigidity, shades of gray, rampant clericalism, and "progressive" scorn. How dare you criticize authoritarianism! You do so in Christ's name

I expect you’ll carry a bright light, Phil. A very bright light.

Card. Cupich wrote on Oct. 24 in his diocesan paper, "While I was in Rome..., I was asked about the angry reaction of American Catholics to the developments of the past months. I fully acknowledge the righteousness of that anger, but I am convinced that beneath the anger is a deep sadness... of disappointment rooted in knowing we are better than this. It is that belief that we are better and can do better that gives me the hope and courage to... move the church forward in this difficult moment."
