man bites dog

This is rare, so savor it: An op-ed columnist for a liberal newspaper-- the Boston Globe, yet: the hometown paper of Ted Kennedy and John Kerry-- admits that a) there's no evidence that John Roberts is a rabid ideologue and b) there can, in principle, be such a thing as "A Principled Conservative."
Astonishing!
Think about it: When was the last time you encountered a liberal willing to recognize that a conservative could be guided by anything other than prejudice, avarice, hatred, or (most ominous of all) religious faith?
