the look and feel of a Catholic politician

By Diogenes ( articles ) | Nov 03, 2006

Peggy Noonan makes a strong case for the re-election of Pennsylvania's Senator Rick Santorum. In the process she relates that she was told Santorum, on the way to a campaign debate, led his family in a Rosary for his opponent, Bob Casey. As Noonan observes, the report sounded "too corny to be true."

But I asked Mr. Santorum about it. Sure, he said, surprised at my surprise. "We pray for the Caseys every night. We know it's as hard for them as it is for us."

This isn't an endorsement: just an observation. You may or may not agree with him on partisan political issues, but Rick Santorum sure does sound like a for-real Catholic.
