Is Just War Obsolete?

In a provocative column published last Friday in the Wall Street Journal, Bill McGurn asks whether Pope John Paul agrees with the Vatican officials who have said-- quite explicity-- that a "just war" is no longer possible. And if military action is no longer justifiable, how does a nation defend itself, or defend others?
