Icy Timelessness

By Antigone ( articles ) | May 08, 2003

More than anything, experts said, the large number of embryos being preserved in icy timelessness is an indicator of the ambivalence many couples feel as they consider what to do with their hard-won but unneeded potential offspring.

Yes, Phil, chilling. How many Catholic couples are parents of these "unneeded offspring"? How many sermons have you heard addressing the issue of moral questions of infertility? How many conferences in parishes? Have any clear guidelines on which tests and procedures are compatible with Catholic teaching been provided at the back of YOUR church?

I'm afraid that the consciences of our people are not being formed at the "point of use." Rather, our pastors content themselves with coming out against abortion on "Respect Life Sunday." If only they would heed the Pope's exhortation!
