Catholic Superheroes, Revisited

By Peter Mirus ( bio - articles - email ) | Jan 31, 2012

I went to an Opus Dei “circle” yesterday evening, and some of the themes touched upon in the talk reminded me of a fun article I wrote for this site in 2004: Catholic Superheroes.

If you really think about it, we Catholics live on the edge. We're a radical bunch — composed of individuals who believe the impossible, hope the impossible, and do the impossible. In fact, even if many people don't recognize it, we're the superheroes of the new millennium. Batman, the X-Men, and yes, even Spiderman have nothing on us.

In 2004, I was in a very different part of my life—since then a lot of water has passed under the bridge. But I’m still as passionate about the subject. Catholics who strive to be faithful are among the true superheroes of our culture!
