Canterbury archbishop shaken

By ( articles ) | Oct 08, 2003

It is reported that the Archbishop of Canterbury was shaken by his interviews with Pope John Paul II but especially with Cardinal Kasper last week.

If this marks the dawning of a new, more realistic era in ecumenism, then I think it should be welcomed. As the bureaucracies of various denominations lurch further and further away from any semblance of Christian orthodoxy, it would be good if the Church directed her efforts to reaching out to faithful Christians who find themselves bereft. It will be interesting if, after forty years, ecumenical efforts suddenly begin bearing fruit in surprising ways.
