Archbishop Dolan goes too far

In another of its highly meaningful news stories, Zenit reported yesterday that Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York was well-pleased with the Yankees’ victory in the World Series. He ought to have been, as he won a case of Tasykakes from Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia. But he went too far in joining “so many in Philadelphia in already looking forward to next season, and a possible rematch.”
What about the other 25 cities or regions with major league baseball teams? Yes, I know there are 30 teams, but three cities have two teams each—unless you count Anaheim and Los Angeles as separate cites— leaving 27, minus New York and Philadelphia who were in this year’s Series, leaving 25. So what about San Francisco, Chicago, Florida, Minnesota and 21 others?
And what about Boston? And...and...well, what about Phil Lawler?
As everyone knows—and as all right-thinking Americans could guess—I rooted for the Yankees this past October. It was the Catholic thing to do, much like rooting for the Vatican. Clearly, Archbishop Dolan is an exemplary Catholic, and for this I praise him. But he throws prudence to the winds in attempting to impose his religion on others until the end of time.
Besides, there is no Divine law that says Philadelphia has to be in it again.

You can't restrict a "True Catholic's" choices to the Angels and the Cardinals. What about the Padres? OK! Quit laughing. I had to do it. Also I believe "Tasykakes" should be spelled "TasTykakes" (the 2nd T is capitalized for emphasis on spelling), but who else notices typos?

I write in trepidation and am afraid to cheer for my team. With all the woes of the last century and no better times in this decade - I don't know if a Cubs championship will bring down the Last Judgment or a Time of Peace.

The heavenly liturgy must have an angelic sound and I can only imagine that the heavenly court must like their baseball to have a similar sound - Vin Scully. Go Dodgers!

It seems that the Last Judgment must occur before all mankind finally realizes that God is a Red Sox fan. On that day, the Evil Empire will finally be cast into the fiery furnace, never to be heard from again!
