Pope's visit to Israel set for March 25?

December 20, 2013

Pope Francis will make a 2-day visit to Israel beginning on March 25, 2014, according to Israeli government officials.

The Vatican has not yet made a formal announcement of plans for the papal visit.

According to Israeli sources, Vatican officials have concluded a trip to the Holy Land, during which they made preliminary arrangements for the papal visit, which will include stops in the Palestinian territories.

The highlight of the papal trip will be a Mass celebrated in Bethlehem, the sources report. Israeli officials had hoped that the Pontiff would also celebrate Mass in Jerusalem.
