Op-ed: Obama administration must take religious freedom more seriously
February 16, 2011
Thomas Farr, the first director of the State Department's Office of International Religious Freedom, argues in a Christianity Today op-ed that the Obama administration must make international religious freedom an integral component of its foreign policy.
“Both the administration and the Senate should move quickly to put in place a credible, experienced ambassador at large with the authority and the resources to get the job done,” says Farr. The nomination of Suzan Johnson Cook-- President Obama’s nominee ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom-- has stalled in the Senate amid concerns over her inexperience.
