Pope requests prayers for trip to Latin America
November 05, 2026
Pope Leo XIV asked the faithful to pray for him as he prepares for his apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru.
Addressing Spanish-speaking pilgrims at the conclusion of his November 4 general audience, Pope Leo said:
On Friday, I will set off for South America to visit Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. I entrust myself to your prayers, that this journey may strengthen faith, renew hope, rekindle the fire of charity, and serve as an impetus to continue proclaiming the Gospel with joy. May God bless you. Thank you very much.
“The day after tomorrow, I will begin my apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru,” he added in Italian. “I ask you to accompany me with your prayers, that the Lord may bless this mission in these countries, which are so dear to me.”
The Vatican newspaper devoted the most prominent article in its November 4 edition to Pope Leo’s request for prayer. Nonetheless, the Vatican omitted the Pontiff’s prayer request from its English translation of his remarks.
