Vatican newspaper spotlights Burundi’s poverty
October 30, 2026
The Vatican newspaper devoted the most prominent front-page article in its October 29 edition to poverty in Burundi.
In “Burundi: Per 70 centesimi al giorno“ (Burundi: For 70 cents per day), staff journalist Giada Aquilino cited a recent Agence France-Presse report as she discussed poverty, inflation, and disease in the east-central African nation. Aqulino noted that Burundi “ranks 187th out of 193 countries on the UN Human Development Index.”
