CWN Editor's Note: The Vatican has confirmed an order from the Diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand, banning a group from ministry in the diocese.

Bishop Michael Gielen of Christchurch said that the group, the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, which originated in Scotland, is banned from his diocese. “My foremost concern remains the spiritual health and unity” of the diocese, he said.

While the diocese gave no specific reason for the ban, the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, a traditionalist group, had been accused of abuses including conducting exorcisms without the bishop’s approval.
