CWN Editor's Note: In an op-ed column for the New York Times, Greg Burke—the former spokesman for Pope Francis—writes that the language skills of Pope Leo XIV, who is fluent in several languages, will serve him well at the Vatican.

The “can-do” attitude of an American Pontiff may also be useful in tackling difficult problems such as the Vatican’s financial crisis, Burke says. But “being an American may prompt some resistance in a Roman Curia in which Italians always have the home court advantage.”

“Pope Leo likes Wordle,” the former Vatican spokesman reveals, suggesting that the game appeals to those who treat words carefully.
