No arms in outer space, pleads Vatican representative at UN

CWN Editor's Note: The Vatican’s representative at the UN endorsed a ban on military uses of outer space in an October 20 statement to the General Assembly. Archbishop Gabriel Giordano Caccia observed that some nations use low-level satellites “for monitoring military activities on earth,” while others have tested anti-satellite weapons. He called for “general and complete disarmament” of outer space “under strict and effective international control.”
