Jailed Vietnamese priest, seriously ill, released for treatment

Father Thaddeus Nguyen Van Ly, a Catholic priest who is serving an 8-year prison sentence for human-rights advocacy, has been temporarily released from jail for medical treatment. Father Van Ly has suffered multiple strokes and is partially paralyzed; he also needs treatment for a brain tumor. Released to authorities of the Hue diocese, he will be returned to prison if his medical condition improves.
