Deep in Vatican Archives, scholar discovers ‘flabbergasting’ secrets

CWN Editor's Note: David Kertzer, a Brown University professor who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his work on Vatican-Italian relations under Pope Pius XI and Mussolini, has written a new book on Pope Pius XII, Hitler, and Mussolini.

The New York Times quotes both Kertzer and historian Michael Hesemann, who described Kertzer as “heavily biased.”
