    Hatred of those who are different is not an inborn behavior, but a learned one. I say this after working 23 years for an HBCU and serving since 1980 as a religious educator of children raised in families where Spanish is spoken. Several of my university students would tell me how much they missed their "white" friends, about how "the black experience" was less fulfilling than their parents thought it would be, and asked why a "white" man like me would want to teach at an HBCU. Conscience at work
