Bridgeport diocese to release sex-abuse documents today

After exhausting all legal options in a protracted 8-year court battle, the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut, faces a court-ordered deadline for the release of more than 12,000 documents related to the handling of sex-abuse complaints. Diocesan officials have said that they will comply with the December 1 deadline. The documents could shed new light on the handling of sex-abuse complaints by past leaders of the Bridgeport diocese, including Cardinal Edward Egan, the retired Archbishop of New York.
