Pope Benedict XVI has named two prominent American scientists-- including a top White House appointee-- to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. They are:
- Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health; and
- Edward De Robertis, professor of chemical biology at the Howard Hughes Institute of Medicine at UCLA.
